01 / FEATURED PROJECT IN DEVELOPMENT
Headset status.
At a glance.
VP Headset Companion
Know your headset. See what changed. Stay in control.
Live Stream Deck buttons show your headset’s status and configuration at a glance, while on-screen notifications make supported changes clear. Adjust supported settings without hunting for tiny headset buttons or memorizing cryptic button combinations.
Built for headset hardware, designed with optional Sonar integration in mind. Use it independently, or connect it with Sonar for a more coordinated audio setup.
EARLIER KEY ARTWORK · SAMPLE VALUES · TAP A KEY
Find your headset. Make it yours.
See what your headset supports, add your first key, and set up alerts or Sonar—all in one guide.

TESTED HEADSETS
Features vary by model and connection. Check the guide for your headset’s supported controls.
Hardware first. Sonar by choice.
Use Companion on its own, or pair it with Sonar for channel indicators and supported microphone, Game/Chat balance and device-switching integration. Sonar stays optional; your routing stays yours.
NOTIFICATION HELPER
Headset updates, on your screen.
See supported connection, mute, ANC and EQ changes without opening a settings window. Low and critical battery alerts can also use optional male or female voice prompts. Notifications work best in windowed or borderless games.

Before you install
VP Headset Companion remains in development. The current Windows x64 package requires Stream Deck 7.1+; optional .NET helpers have additional runtime and operating-system requirements. Requirements ↗
Setting up your keys
Assign Battery Status, Headset Mute Status, Microphone Mute, ANC Status, EQ Status and Diagnostics actions to a headset. The current gauge picker offers Headset and Battery; older saved styles can remain on existing keys. Silhouette percentage text and Flood fill start unchecked. Press a silhouette to reveal battery readings briefly. OpenFit uses a locked, visual-only Headset gauge. Settings and defaults ↗
Sonar, controls & connection limits
Supported HID connections can cycle ANC and onboard EQ. Headset Mute Status is physical/read-only; Microphone Mute separately offers Windows or Prefer Sonar. Sonar channel tabs show confirmed routes, not audio playing. Bluetooth ANC/EQ and automatic endpoint disabling are unavailable. Keep onboard EQ Default/Flat disables EQ cycling and avoids stacking headset EQ with Sonar. Sonar and audio-device guidance ↗
Troubleshooting & support
Check the assigned headset, connection and power state; clear Test battery % before interpreting readings. Use Diagnostics for current state and errors. Read troubleshooting steps ↗, then ask in headset-status on Discord ↗. New here? Join first ↗. Redact personal information and device identifiers before sharing logs.
04 / ABOUT CHRIS
A little about me
I spent more than 30 years working in technology, from developing software to helping organizations make better use of it. Along the way, I worked as an Account Technology Strategist at Microsoft and led technology projects for Riverside County, California.
I retired in 2021, but never lost the urge to figure things out. These days, I build software, experiment with new tools, and find ways to make my own setup work a little better.
Veal.pro is where I’m starting to share those projects and what I learn along the way. Some start with a problem I want to solve. Others start with, “I wonder if I could…”
